Mocumentary, How-To, OR Experimental Documentary
Your video should be between:
3-5 min.
Create a short video using what you have learned this quarter about the documentary genre ~ Add a twist:
Mocumentary:
Shooting & editing in the style of an Expository, Participatory, or Observational documentary ~ create a short that feels like a documentary but is staged, manipulated, and or scripted. Following in the footsteps of Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap, or Christopher Guest’s Best in Show, or in the style of popular television shows & Reality TV such as The Office.
How – To:
Create a short instructional video on a topic of your choice. Use a fun, playful, serious, or dry tone. Your choice.
Experimental Documentary:
Take documentary a step further by creating an Experimental Documentary --- do something different if HOW you shoot or WHAT you shoot. In the style of Koyaanisqatsi, or another experimental documentary that broke the standard conventions of documentary style filmmaking.
